The Class of 1958 will be honored during the annual celebration of the
McNeese State University Alumni Association Golden Scholar Society Friday
and Saturday, May 16-17. The Class of 1958 was the seventh class to receive
four-year baccalaureate degrees from McNeese.
To share in this celebration, the Class of 1958 has invited classmates from
1941-1957 to participate, according to Joyce Patterson, McNeese alumni
director.
On Friday, the graduates will gather at the Stream Alumni Center for a
social, luncheon and an induction ceremony in which each member of the
Golden Scholar Society will receive a lapel pin and an honorary certificate.
On Saturday, the graduates will wear gold robes and march in spring
commencement at 10 a.m. at Burton Coliseum with the Class of 2008. After
their recognition during commencement, they will be honored with a reception
at McNeese President Robert Hebert¹s home.
The Golden Scholars from the class of 1958 are as follows:
Raymond Chavanne, Troy Cooper, Larry DeRouen, Darryl Dosier, Lucille
Ellender, Lyndell Fehl, Lucille Garner, Wanda Godwin, John Granger,
Jacqueline Heitkamp, Mary Hidalgo, Kalil Ieyoub, Vivian LeBlanc, Dainey
Lege', Wallace Manuel, Thomas "Nolan" Moore, Elizabeth "Betty" Nelson,
William Newlin, Merle Schukoske, Richard Sockrider, John Stagg, Forrest
Strickland, David Tilbury, JoAnn Tilbury and Harry Wille.
Others to be inducted into the Golden Scholar Society on Friday are: Class
of 1957, Barbara Sockrider; Class of 1956, M. Dwayne Milner; and Class of
1950, Tom Watson.
