The McNeese State University Summer Bayou Players will present "Doubt," a parable by John Patrick Shanley, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, June 24-26, at Ralph Squires Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts center.
"Doubt," set in the Bronx in 1964, tells the story of a strong-willed nun who serves as principal of a Catholic school and faces a moral dilemma concerning the conduct of the parish priest. An explosive cat-and-mouse game ensues as she struggles to prove that her suspicions are justified. "Doubt" is an inspired study of moral uncertainty with the compelling structure of an old-fashioned detective drama. The production received the Pulitzer Prize and four Tony awards, including Best Play, in 2005.
The cast includes Joy Pace as Sister Aloyisius Beauvier, Clay Hebert as Father Brendan Flynn, Sarah Broussard as a young nun and teacher, and Jill Tate as mother to one of the students. Director is Charles McNeely III.
Tickets are $10 at the door. McNeeese students are admitted free with a current ID. No reservations are required. For more information, call 337-475-5043.
