  Auto CAD course available

The department of continuing education at McNeese State University will offer “Essential AutoCAD 2008” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Aug. 25-Sept. 29, in Room 315 of Farrar Hall.

This course is designed to teach operating and productive use of AutoCAD, the industry standard in computer drafting software. This introductory course is beneficial for commercial and residential contractors, industrial tradesmen, high school students interested in drafting and design, engineers, architects, interior designers, landscape designers, and residential house plan drafters. Elements learned in this course include the AutoCAD interface, drawing objects, dimensioning objects, annotating drawings, plotting or printing drawings, using blocks and attributes, and using tool palettes. Attendance is vital, as the course does not permit backtracking.

Students will earn 2.0 CEUs/20 PDH. Course cost is $449. A USB jump drive and textbook are also required.

Instructor Brian Young is a Piping Designer with Levingston Engineers with 14 years drafting experience.
