The McNeese College of Nursing will host a site review for continuing accreditation of its associate of science in nursing degree program with the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission..
The public is invited to meet the visiting team and share comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled for Sept. 28, 2011, at 3 p.m. in Stokes Auditorium, located in Hardtner Hall on the McNeese campus.

Dr. Michael T. Smith, assistant professor of history at McNeese State University, has just released a new book titled, “The Enemy Within: Fears of Corruption in the Civil War North.” The 256-page book was published by the University of Virginia Press.
Stoked by a series of major scandals, popular fears of corruption in the Civil War North provide a unique window into Northern culture in the Civil War era. In his book, Smith relates these scandals—including those involving John C. Frémont’s administration in Missouri, Benjamin F.
From band camp to cooking lessons, from robotics to all kinds of sports, summer camps at McNeese State University offer something for everyone - from children to teens – in June and July.
The campus more than doubles in population during the summer months - over 6,000 McNeese college students and summer campers share campus facilities.
Programs range from a few hours in class to several days on campus and campers can stay in residence halls or commute, gaining a real taste of college life.
Students who have enrolled and registered online for McNeese State University’s fall semester have until 4 p.m. Aug. 12 to pay fees. Fall classes begin Aug. 17.
Fall 2011 term bills will be available online after July 18 to students through the MyMcNeese Portal or their Banner Self-Service account. Fee bills will not be mailed.

The 12TH annual McNeese State University Harp Camp will be offered July 25-29 in the Shearman Fine Arts Center at McNeese.
The camp, sponsored by the McNeese Department of Performing Arts, is open to interested persons of all ages and all levels of experience, according to Barbara Belew, camp director.

The Greater Lake Charles Rotary Club recently donated $12,500 from the proceeds of its annual auction to McNeese State University for the Greater Lake Charles Rotary Scholarship Fund, which was established with the McNeese Foundation in 1992.

High school agriculture teachers from across the country are on the McNeese State University campus to learn how to elevate student experiences in the agriculture classroom and prepare students for success in college and careers emphasizing science, technology, engineering and math.
The national CASE (Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education) Institute for agriculture, food and natural resources provides intense teacher professional development and curriculum on university campuses throughout the United States that is changing the culture of agriculture programs, according to Dr. Chip LeMieux, head of the Harold and Pearl Dripps Agricultural Sciences Department.
“McNeese is one of only nine universities that offer a CASE Institute,” said LeMieux.
An exhibition titled “Artists Interpretations: Heads” is currently on display through Aug. 19 in the Abercrombie Gallery of the Shearman Fine Arts Center at McNeese State University.
Over 50 artists were invited to submit artworks dealing with the human head, according to Gerry Wubben, professor of art at McNeese.

“There are drawings, prints, sculptures, paintings and photography depicting the human head in this exhibit,” Wubben explained.
Registration for the fall semester at McNeese State University is currently underway through 11:59 p.m. July 15. The fall class schedule is available on the Schedule website and all students should see an adviser, if required, to get their alternate PINS prior to registration.
July 8 is the deadline to apply for admission to McNeese State University for regular fall registration. Classes begin Aug. 17 and students can go to the McNeese website and click on Banner Self-Service to begin the registration process.
