Banners Presents Halie Loren in Concert

(March 12, 2014) American jazz singer and songwriter, Halie Loren, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, in F.G. Bulber Auditorium as part of the 2014 McNeese State University Banners CultuHalie Lorenral Season.

Inspired by her childhood home in Alaska, Loren brings a playfulness, pizzazz and sensuality to music and songwriting she discovered at a young age. Her music "conveys the wonders of the invisible world - wounded defiance, stubborn love and hard-earned hopefulness.

Through her universal yet personal songs, she has been able to forge bonds with and capture diverse audiences in North America, Asia and Europe.

Loren's music has proven irresistible to concert halls, where she has performed with the Jazz Orchestra of Sicily, the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra in Oregon and the Monroe Symphony in Louisiana. She has traveled the world with the members of her original band, performing in Canada, Italy, China, Hong Kong and South Korea.

Her albums, which consist of her own original tracks as well as re-imaginings of classic jazz standards, have reached critical acclaim time and time again. She has been named as an Editor's Pick at online music store, CD Baby, and has won several independent music awards.
