Based in New York City, Bridgman | Packer Dance Co. creates highly visual and visceral interaction of live performance and video technology that explodes this "video partnering" form into a magically populated stage where image and reality collide. With the paintings of Edward Hopper as a point of departure, "Voyeur" bears witness to fragmented moments of private lives.
Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, artistic directors of the dance company, have collaborated as performers and choreographers since 1978. By using their vast choreographic experience and the help of technology, they create unique performances through their innovative work through video partnering, which has won them international acclaim. The company has toured throughout the United States, Europe, Central America and Asia.
Bridgman and Packer received a 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship for their work - the first in the history of the Guggenheim Foundation to be given to two individuals for their collaborative work - and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, New England Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council for the Arts and the National Dance Project. Additionally, they have received two choreography fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and three National Performance Network Creation Fund Awards.
