McNeese Choirs and Ensembles Concert Set
The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present the McNeese Choirs and Ensembles in a free concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in Tritico Theatre located in the Shearman Fine Arts Annex.
Choirs and ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Darryl Jones, director of choral activities. McNeese student pianist Andrew Steiner will accompany Concert Chorale and Dr. Ulysses Loken will accompany the Chamber Singers and the Men’s and Women’s Ensembles.
The Women’s Ensemble will perform: “The Nightingale” by Thomas Weelkes, “Er ist gekommen” by Clara Schumann and arranged by Brandon Williams, “Four Sacred Songs for the Night” by Houston Bright, “Fear No More the Heat O’ the Sun” by David Ashley White and selections from “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” arranged by Roger Emerson.
Concert Chorale will feature: “Cantate Sing to the Lord” by Jim Leininger, “Kyrie Eleison” by Leonhard Lechner, “Come to the Music” by Joseph Martin, “The Three Ravens” an Old English folk song arranged by Stephen Porter, “Dance for Love” by Randall Stroope and “Celebrate!” by Keith Hampton.
The Men’s Ensemble will perform: “Si iniquitates observaveris” by Samuel Wesley, “Alleluia” by Reginald Untersehrer, “An die Musik” by Franz Schubert and arranged by Craig Courtney, “When I Think Upon the Maidens” by Michael Head and arranged by Paul Neal, “Armonia” by Dan Davison and “Steel Drivin’ Man” (The Ballad of John Henry) arranged by Neil Johnson.
The Chamber Singers will feature: “Achieved Is the Glorious Work” from “The Creation” by Franz Joseph Haydn, three madrigals from Jean Berger’s “Six Madrigals,” “Greensleeves” arranged by Bob Chilcott, “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” arranged by Shawn Kirchner and assisted by Nicholas Bedwell on saxophone and “J’entends le moulin” by Donald Patriquin.
