Salvinia piling up against weir near outfall of a canal which leads to the ship channel. This picture was taken in February after numerous days of freezing temperatures. Many plants are still green, posing a threat.

 


Salvinia molesta in a ditch behind the Cameron Parish Courthouse. During peak growth, this mat can support the weight of a full grown man.

 

 



Prairie Project at
MSU's LERC Wetlands Station:
McNeese State University is conducting wet prairie restoration work in SW Louisiana.
Currently, we are propagating species of importance to create a large seed stock to be used in restoration efforts.
This project is in cooperation with the Coastal Plains Conservancy, the USDA-NRCS and the USGS National Wetlands Research Center.
