Louisiana Hayride: The Women Who Played the Hayride

Louisiana Hayride: The Women Who Played the Hayride

The Louisiana Hayride was widely known as the "Cradle of the Stars." Over its history the radio show produced many famous country and rockabilly stars, ranging from Hank Williams to Elvis Presley. This presentation will look at some of the women performers who rose to fame on the Hayride, with particular focus on Goldie Hill, Margie Singleton, and Betty Amos. All three made the transition to Nashville, where they established reputations as singers and songwriters.
