If you are a few points shy of the required ACT scores for admission into McNeese State University, and if you meet all other qualifications for admissions, McNeese is now offering an opportunity for you to qualify for admission. You can participate in one or both of the two ACCUPLACER Bootcamp sessions!
WHAT IS THE ACCUPLACER?
Accuplacer is a suite of computerized assessments that determines your knowledge in Math and English as you prepare to enroll in college-level courses. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, and your ACT and SAT scores are used by academic advisors and counselors to place you into college courses that meet your skill level.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS TO McNeese State University
English minimum test scores:
- English ACT scores are 18 for English, or
- ACCUPLACER sentence skills score of 86
Math minimum test scores:
- ACT math score of 19, or
- ACCUPLACER elementary algebra score of 65
WHAT IS THE ACCUPLACER BOOTCAMP?
The ACCUPLACER BOOTCAMP is a day at McNeese State University where students who scored between 14 and 17 (range includes endpoints) in the English portion of the ACT and/or 15 and 18 (range includes endpoints) in the Math portion of the ACT can attend a three-hour intensive ACCUPLACER training course at McNeese State University followed by taking the ACCUPLACER assessment. Students scoring a minimum of 86 in the ACCUPLACER sentence skills and/or 65 in the ACCUPLACER elementary algebra assessments, will be accepted to McNeese State University.
THE AGENDA FOR THE BOOTCAMP DAY:
8 to 9 a.m. – An initial diagnostic test to gauge your strengths and weaknesses;
9 – 9:15 a.m. – 15 minute break to allow for diagnostic test results to be computed;
9:15 am 12:15 p.m. – 3 hour English or Math intensive training class;
12:15 – 1:15 - lunch break (on your own);
1:15 – estimated 2:30 p.m. – ACCUPLACER test (untimed)
HOW MUCH DOES THE BOOTCAMP COST?
The cost to attend the Bootcamp is $100.00 per subject (English or Math).
