Cowgirl Kickers

The Cowgirl Kickers were created in 1980 and founded by Mrs. Glenda Menard. The group originally performed only for basketball games and pep rallies. Since then, they have expanded their performances to all home football and basketball games, exhibitions with the MSU Band, events on McNeese campus, Mardi Gras Balls, charity events and auctions, grand openings and many other venues in Southwest Louisiana. The girls also donate their time and energies to the community by visiting area retirement homes and schools.

Disney World In the past, the squad traveled and performed in Nice, France, Walt Disney World, at Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets’ Basketball games, for the New Orleans’ Saints and the Naval Base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, which was one first civilian groups to be invited.

Directors The squad remained under the direction of Mrs. Menard until 2001 when she retired and now the squad is under the direction of Paige Harkins-Caldwell and coached by Mary Ann Smith, whom both were officers on the dance line. The current team is composed of 24-26 members who keep up the traditions and reputation of this dynamic squad.

The Kickers have a strong alumni group relations and former members stay connected through bi-annual newsletters and reunions. They and all past members who have spent time as a Cowgirl Kicker share the motto:
