WHEN DO YOU FIND OUT IF YOU MADE THE SQUAD?
Students auditioning can call the Director’s number @ 337-475-5604 and find out the results on the Monday evening following the auditions. New members will have their first meeting the week following tryouts.
HOW MUCH DO YOU PRACTICE?
Class meets weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday form 12:00-2:00 pm and Thursday nights from 5:00-7:00 pm. Band practice is on Saturday for home football game weeks. Some weeks we do not have practice, depending on our performance schedule. If a major spring trip has been determined, extra practice time will be scheduled accordingly. There will be no major trip for the 2008-2009 season.
WHERE DO KICKERS PERFORM?
The group performs at all home football and basketball games. We also have one out of town football game to be decided on in the fall as well as performances at the SLC Basketball Tournament. Our dance team performs for many civic functions in Southwest Louisiana, and is called upon quite often for other performances and appearances throughout the year. The team also performs at all McNeese spirit functions on campus. Selected spring semesters, an out of state performance trip is scheduled.
IS THERE A SCHOLARSHIP?
Yes….a basic first member receives a $600.00 scholarship for the year, based on successfully performing two semesters. The scholarship then escalates about $100.00 extra per year of completion of service. It also waives out-of-state fees. The scholarship is given at the end of each semester except in special circumstances. You will also receive 2 credits toward your semester hours each semester.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Our corporate sponsor furnishes all uniforms and the university pays for practice clothes, warm-ups, and accessories. The members are responsible for purchasing the selected style dance shoe. Fundraising events will supplement travel cost when a major spring trip is selected.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Must have a 2.0 average in order to be eligible to audition as well as have met the requirements for admission to McNeese. Must maintain a GPA of 2.0 (2.5 for out-of-state students) each semester of service. Must earn 12 hours per semester.
