Theme: Ecology and Life Science
Grades: K-2 and 3-7
Duration: 1-2 Hours
Armed with a hiking stick and some string, students hike the trails at Naturelab and collect natural artifacts along the way. As they find natural objects (ex. leaves, sticks, feathers, etc.), they tie them to the stick in chronological order, starting from the bottom of the stick toward the top. At the end of the hike, students reflect on their experience by discussing the importance of what they found, where they found it, and its importance in an ecosystem.
