ABOUT THE COURSE
Heighten your awareness, understanding and appreciation of chemical plant accidents.  Get a real-life look at case histories of process accidents in the chemical industry.  Review numerous actual process case histories and view hundreds of vivid images of plant sites, fires or damaged equipment.
Enjoy interactive participation to help identify the causes of previous accidents and learn to mitigate and eliminate chemical process hazards.  Learn practical fundamentals during a fast-paced, interactive exchange on Process Safety details between you, other attendees and the presenter.
During this course your attention will be focused on practical "within-the-fence" details that have been overlooked by well-meaning, dedicated employees and resulted in costly incidents. You will review fundamentals and the needed foundations for a Management of Change Program that is vital for Safe Operations.
Some basics of Fires and Explosions will be examined through case histories.  You will review process safety elements revealed by Tales Tanks Tell.  (Tanks are often the Victims of Chemical Process Mishaps and vividly expose the mistakes of our judgments.)

INSTRUCTOR
Roy E. Sanders, Chemical Engineer - is a freelance process safety lecturer and is currently a part-time Research Associate of Texas A&M's Process Safety Center.  Roy retired in 2008, as a Compliance Team Leader from PPG Industries' massive chemical manufacturing facility Lake Charles, LA.  He has specialized in Process Safety since 1974, and was Superintendent of Loss Prevention at PPG from 1982 to 1998.  After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1965, he held various operations and technical positions at PPG involving chlor/alkali and chlorinated hydrocarbons during his 43-year career.
He has been the principal author of over 16 practical articles published on chemical process safety that offer a within-the-fence look at that activity from an operations, maintenance and engineering standpoint.  The third edition of his popular book, "Chemical Process Safety: Learning from Case Histories" was released in 2005.
Mr. Sanders has served as Chairman of PPG Lake Charles' Technical Safety Review Board.  He was responsible for process hazards analyses and has investigated numerous process accidents.
Mr. Sanders is a regular lecturer on Process Safety topics throughout North America and taught short courses in Holland, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and India.  His interactive process safety awareness course entitled "What Went Wrong?" has received excellent reviews around the world.  He is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana and a "Fellow" in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
