 Student Union facilities are often places that student organizations, McNeese personnel, and non-affiliated groups conduct programs featuring musical entertainment. The Union Office offers sound support for various activities held in the facilities. Sound Technicians will be trained to use equipment, with the goal being to reach the point of mastery and understand most aspects of sound production.  The Sound Technicians report directly to the Union Office. 

 

Educational Value

Through guidance and instructions received from the Student Union staff, the Sound Technicians will inherit skill in sound production and its subsequent technical requirements.

 

Expectation of Time

Positions begin immediately after hire. This position is funded by organizations renting technical equipment pending reservations.  The Sound Technician must be available to work when needed on afternoons and weekends.  Student Sound Technicians work on an as needed basis. 

 

Pay Rate

$12.50/ per hour

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Trains on set up, running, and troubleshooting of sound equipment weekly (this can include reading manuals, testing equipment, etc.)

·         Will be responsible for setup, monitoring, and takedown of Holbrook Student Union sound equipment reserved for events in campus facilities

 

Minimum Qualifications

·         Must be in good academic and discipline standing with the University

·         Must be able to lift and transport at least 20lbs

·         Must be able to grasp basic concepts of sound production

·         Must have good interpersonal skills

·         Must be able to communicate in English fluently

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Previous experience in production, sound setup, DJing, or sound monitoring
