Computer Support Specialist (2 positions)

McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Computer Support Specialist (2 positions) in the Department of Information Technology.  This is a full-time, 12 –month, unclassified position.  The appointment is available February 15, 2008. 

Position Description and Responsibilities:  The Computer Support Specialist is responsible for functions related to end-user support. This person will work closely with the University’s faculty, staff and students, assisting with the technical support and networking needs of these users. The Computer Support Specialist will also work under the guidance of Network Services to maintain the University’s network. 

Qualifications:
Required

  • An Associate’s degree preferably in Computing Science or a related field.
  • 1 year of Information Technology experience, preferably in Higher Education.
  • Understanding of current networking concepts and technologies.
  • Strong background in computer troubleshooting and repair.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Macintosh and Linux.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Norton Ghost, Deep Freeze or related programs.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population.

General Information:  McNeese State University, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a public university and a member of the University of Louisiana System. Salary: $33,000-$35,000
