McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, invites applications for the position of Information Resources Librarian (IRL) at Frazar Memorial Library.  This is an unclassified, full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment.  This newly-created position offers an opportunity for an energetic and innovative candidate to join a university committed to excellence in services and resources.

Position Description and Responsibilities:
Implements and maintains technologies necessary to ensure and enhance access to electronic resources.  Participates in the development of library policies and procedures.  Manages library web site and participates in web page design and development.  Participates in the selection, installation, and maintenance of equipment and software.  Serves as liaison with university’s technology and computing departments in issues affecting library resources and services.  Some public services duties may be included.  Reports to Coordinator of Library Services.

Requirements:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent).  Ability to manage and troubleshoot electronic resources.  Understanding of practices and trends in using licensed electronic resources and digital content.  Working knowledge of current web authoring programs and related web-based technologies.  Working knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems.  Ability to work collaboratively with library faculty and staff. 

Preferences:
Public services or other academic library experience.
Experience in solving technology-related issues in an academic library.

Salary:  $50,842
