McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Department Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication. This is a full-time, 9–month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins August 1, 2008.
Position Description and Responsibilities: The Department Head is responsible for functions related to the administration and teaching of the Department of Mass Communication.
Qualifications: Required: Candidates must have a PhD in Mass Communication or a closely related field. Candidates must have expertise in one or more of the following areas: broadcast journalism, new media, print journalism, public relations, or media production. The candidate must have a proven positive leadership and administrative experience. The successful candidate will be familiar with ACEJMC accreditation guidelines.
General Information: The Department of Mass Communication at McNeese State University has approximately 200 majors in journalism, public relations, radio/TV and speech. It is housed in a new building, with two computer labs, television studio and control room, and it has more than 20 digital video cameras available for student use. This is a great opportunity for an administrative career in a growing department that is central to the mission of the College of Liberal Arts. McNeese State University, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a public university and a member of the University of Louisiana System. Salary: Depending on a candidate’s qualifications and experience, a salary from $72,000-$75,000 will be offered for the nine-month appointment. Summer services for additional pay are expected.
