McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Elementary Education-Reading in the Department of Teacher Education. This is an unclassified, full-time, tenure-track, 9-monthfaculty position. The position is available in January 2008 or August 2008.

Position Description and Responsibilities: Teach elementary education reading methods courses and foundation courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; advise both graduate and undergraduate students; supervise student teachers; assume committee responsibilities; work with professional development schools. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available.

Qualifications: Required: Earned doctorate in Elementary Education by the time of employment; at least three years of teaching experience required at the elementary level; ability to teach elementary reading methods courses; effective communication skills; research experience; and evidence of technology required. Preferred: university teaching experience; evidence of scholarly activity; evidence of collaboration with local school systems; community agencies, and other professionals.
