McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education.  This is a full-time, 9–month,unclassified, tenure-track position.  The appointment begins August 2008.

Position Description and Responsibilities:  The Assistant Professor is responsible for functions related to teach elementary education mathematics methods courses and foundations courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; advise both graduate and undergraduate students; supervise student teachers; assume committee responsibilities; work with Professional Development Schools.  The Assistant Professor will work closely with education faculty and administrators and teachers in public and private schools.
 
Qualifications:  RequiredEarned doctorate in Education by the time of appointment; at least three years of teaching experience desired at the elementary level; ability to teach elementary mathematics methods courses; university experience preferred; evidence of technology required; evidence of scholarly activity; evidence of collaboration with local school systems; community agencies, and other professionals. Preferred: Five-eight years teaching experience at the elementary level.

General Information:  McNeese State University, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a public university and a member of the University of Louisiana System. Salary: $50,000 Opportunities for summer teaching may be available.
