McNeese State University invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor: Graphic Design in the Department of Visual Arts. This is a full-time, 9–month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins in August 2018.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Professor: Graphic Design is responsible for functions related to curriculum implementation to management and upkeep of equipment, technology, and classroom-studio workspace. Full-time instructional 3/3 load will include multiple Graphic Design courses shepherding undergraduate students of all skill-sets from introductory through intermediate to advanced, upper-level professional capstone as well as degree candidate mentoring. The full-time Assistant Professor of Art, Visual Arts -Graphic Design position is also responsible for fostering positive liaisons with the local business community, guiding student internship development and effective placement in addition to maintaining an active role in Student Academic Advising, various Committee Appointments, and Arts Cultural Programming Initiatives while pursuing personal scholarly endeavors.

Qualifications:

Required: MFA in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field, and a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. The candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge and application of theory, history, contemporary practices and trends in Graphic Design. The candidate will have proficiency in web design, motion graphics, as well as traditional graphic design practices such as computer based design, layout, and typography. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will have a working knowledge of the application and use of graphic design in all media including print, advertising, digital, and social media.

Preferred: Adobe Creative Cloud Certification, and experience in the Graphic Design field outside of academia.

Salary:

$44,000 - $48,000
