It's that time of the year again for floats, music, memories and football. On behalf of the University, we cordially invite you to participate in the 2012 Homecoming Parade. This year's parade will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at 7 p.m.
To help defray the cost of the parade for our student body, we ask that each community unit entry pay a $50.00 fee. Please make checks payable to the McNeese Homecoming Parade. There is no entry fee for University organizations to participate in the event.
To accomplish this, Student Services must deter some of the cost and workload; therefore, we are requiring that each participating student organization contribute one person to help with pre-parade activities from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Once the volunteer's float is leaving the line-up, he/she will be allowed to join the organization on the float.
- Community Unit: Before Noon, Friday, October 19, 2012
- McNeese Student Organization: Before Noon, Tuesday, October 23, 2012
The theme for this year's homecoming parade is "Axe the 'Jacks". To help support this theme we suggest using creative designs in decorating your float. The mascot for this year's homecoming opponent, Stephen F. Austin, is the Lumberjacks and their colors are purple, red and white.
For the judging portion of the parade, McNeese State University student organizations will compete for first, second, and third places, while community organizations will compete for plaques. Winners of each division will be announced at the pep rally and press releases will follow the week after that.
In compliance with the City of Lake Charles ordinances and McNeese State University policy, we declare all aspects of the 2012 Homecoming Parade to be alcohol free!
On behalf of the Homecoming Committee,
Toby Osburn, Ed.D.
Associate Vice President for University Services
