Athletic Training Program

MSU ATP LogoMcNeese State University's Athletic Training Program (ATP) is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Upon meeting all degree requirements, graduates will qualify to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Graduates who pass the BOC exam can pursue jobs across the nation as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

Students who desire admission into the MSU ATP must meet course prerequisites and GPA standards. Application to the ATP is generally made during the sophomore year.

Do You have what it takes? Here are a few requirements that applicants to the ATEP must have:

  • A 2.5 grade point average
  • Completed course work in the following:
    • BIOL 100
    • BIOL 225
    • HHP 111
    • HHP 115
    • HHP 122
    • HHP 124
    • HHP 285
  • A completed application with a physical exam and other signed documents

Mission

The Athletic Training Program seeks to prepare students through knowledge, values, critical thinking and psychomotor skills to assume a professional role in the Athletic Training Profession that will optimize the quality of healthcare of the physically active.
