Drunk Driving

"I drive better when I've had a few drinks." Yeah, right. How many times have you heard someone make that statement? It's the alcohol talking. Only a fool would think that alcohol improves driving ability, and here's why: Alcohol abuse impairs the performance of complex mental and motor functions, which is why it's associated with such a wide range of accidents and injuries. Recent studies indicate that as your BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) level increases, your ability to perform skills - including the skills involved in driving - steadily decreases. That's probably why 40% of all traffic fatalities, and 60% of boating fatalities, involve alcohol abuse. There's no way you can drive better when you've been drinking. You only think you can, because you're drunk.
