Master of Education in Educational Leadership

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership prepares practicing educators to serve as school- and district-level leaders and satisfies the requirements for Educational Leadership endorsement by the Louisiana Department of Education.


Admission into the Master of Education in Educational Leadership


A potential candidate must be admitted into the Dore' School of Graduate Studies. To be admitted to the MEd in Educational Leadership program, the following additional requirements must be met.
  • A candidate must hold a current valid teaching certificate. A temporary teaching certificate is not acceptable.
  • A candidate must have three successful years of teaching experience at the time of admission.
  • A candidate must also achieve at least the minimum indicated score in the appropriate formula below:

  • Minimum formula score of 1100 if the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) was taken prior to September 1, 2011 using the 200-800 score scale. The formula is calculated as follows:
Undergraduate GPA * 150 + GRE (Verbal and Quantitative)>= 1100
  • Minimum formula score of 740 if the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) was taken after September 1, 2011 using the 130-170 score scale. The formula is calculated as follows:
Undergraduate GPA *150 + GRE (Verbal and Quantitative)>= 740

Completing an Application for Degree

All candidates are required to complete an Application for Degree during the first two weeks of the semester in which graduation is expected. The Application for Degree should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Education Programs by the due date posted in the current academic catalog.
