IT'S TIME TO REGISTER FOR COWBOY CAMP (FRESHMAN ORIENTATION)!

"NEW FOR 2020 - COWBOY CAMP (FRESHMAN ORIENTATION) HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED."

We're excited that you'll be joining us at McNeese State University! One of the first steps in becoming a McNeese student is to experience Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation). New students will learn about university resources and services, meet new friends, faculty and staff and register for classes with their advisors.

Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) is a mandatory class for all incoming students. To receive full credit, students must complete all parts of Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation).

Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) will consist of the following three parts:
1) Complete an Online Orientation. (Scroll down to access the Online Orientation link.)
2) Attend a two-day, on-campus orientation. (Scroll down to access the link to register for the on-campus orientation.)
3) Complete the Engage Program. (This information will be provided to you at Cowboy Camp.)


Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) Dates:

  • June 24-25, 2020: Fall Session 
  • July 13-14, 2020: Fall Session 
  • July 23-24, 2020: Fall Session
  • August 14-15, 2020: Fall Session 

*** The Cowboy Camp scheduled for June 3-4 was rescheduled to July 23-24th.


Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) Class Times:

  • Day 1: 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Day 2: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

*** Students will be required to stay at Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) the entire time for both days. If a student arrives late or leaves early, they will be required to attend another orientation.

Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) Housing:

  • On-Campus Housing is for the STUDENT ONLY.
  • Students that live in Calcasieu Parish are not required to stay on-campus for Cowboy Camp. We do encourage you to stay on-campus, because day one will not end till 10:00 p.m. and you will need to return to campus for day two by 7:30 a.m.
  • Students that DO NOT LIVE IN CALCASIEU PARISH ARE REQUIRED TO STAY ON-CAMPUS for Cowboy Camp.
  • If parents or guardians will be attending the Parent Orientation, they will need to make housing arrangements at a local hotel.

  • PLEASE NOTE: For the last orientation session only students who are 2020-2021 campus residents will be allowed to stay on-campus overnight due to fall semester move-in operations taking place by then.  Session D students who are not on-campus residents will be required to arrange their own overnight accommodations elsewhere in town or commute.


Orientation Class Fee:

The fee for Cowboy Camp (Freshman Orientation) is $250.00 and is non-refundable. After attending Cowboy Camp, the fee will be assessed into the student's tuition and fee bill. Please do not bring the $250.00 to Orientation.

Step Two: Click on "Entering Freshman.
Step Three: Click on "Create A New Student Account" and create an account. 
** Don't forget your username and password.
Step Four: Log in and complete the Online Orientation.
