DO YOU LIVE WITH A PROBLEM GAMBLER?

Left untreated, gambling problems will eventually interfere with almost every aspect of one’s life. Warning signs at home could consist of one or more of these problems:

  • Household bills are overdue, or your loved one wants to take over paying bills to gain access to additional cash

  • Unaccounted for cash advances from credit cards

  • An increase in the number of active credit cards

  • Loved one is constantly short of money – even with adequate income

  • Loved one is broke one moment, then showering people with gifts and “living large” the next moment

  • Loved one makes requests for loans from family and friends that are blamed on phony financial catastrophes

  • Cash disappears from a child’s money jar

  • Loved one has large amounts of cash even when bills are unpaid

  • Money missing from savings or investment accounts

  • Household items have been sold or pawned for cash

  • Bounced checks or post-dating checks

  • Gone for increasing amount of time

  • Problems at work – leaving early, arriving late

TIDBIT:
Gambling is based on chance, probability, and randomness. If you toss a coin you have a 50% chance of getting heads and a 50% chance of getting tails, whether it is your 1st toss or your 10th. Each successive toss does not affect the next; your chance is still 50-50.

The Project is neither for nor against gambling.
