McNeese State University's Financial Aid Office is co-sponsoring a Financial Aid Awareness Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Student Union (Old Ranch) to remind students that it's time to reapply for financial aid for 2013-2014.
Financial aid personnel will be on hand to distribute applications, answer questions and provide information to students about upcoming deadlines and types of financial aid, according to Taina Savoit, financial aid director.
Savoit said approximately 74 percent of McNeese students received some form of financial aid in 2012-2013, totaling more than $50 million.
"February is the key time to begin the application process in order to be considered for all aid programs offered at state and federal levels," she added. Current McNeese students who are receiving financial assistance can reapply via the FAFSA, or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, by using the free government website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
There will also be free food and drinks, a bucking bull, a chance to win cash from a money booth and a photo booth for pictures for students, said Savoit.
Co-sponsors of this event are the Student Government Association, the McNeese Leadership Programming office and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
