McNeese to reopen on Friday

(Thursday - August 30, 2012 - 10:45 a.m.) McNeese State University will be open Friday, Aug. 31.  Friday classes will be held as scheduled and all employees should report to work at their normal times.  If any students have circumstances that would prevent them from attending class on Friday, it is their personal responsibility to contact and work this out with their individual professors.  

(Wednesday - August 29, 2012 - 5:15 p.m.) McNeese will remain closed and classes will be canceled tomorrow (Thursday, August 30, 2012).  A decision about whether the university will open on Friday will be made by 6 p.m. tomorrow. This storm has been highly unpredictable, and while it seems that we are out of the danger zone, there is a chance for drenching rain, wind and power outages in Southwest Louisiana.  Therefore, we are continuing to communicate with the National Weather Service regularly and making decisions based on the latest information that we have.

(Tuesday - August 28, 2012 - Noon)President Williams has announced that McNeese will enter the Preparation Phase of the University's Emergency Operations Plan effective at noon today, Tuesday, August 28.  Please review your department's Emergency Operation Plan to determine your responsibilities during the Preparation Phase of emergency operations.
 
Due to the possibility of heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 m.p.h. beginning on Wednesday, the campus will close tonight at the conclusion of night classes.

Essential personnel in critical areas will be notified today by their supervisors if they are to report to work on Wednesday. Students and all other personnel are strongly encouraged to stay off roadways. Except for critical personnel, all classes are canceled and offices will be closed on Wednesday, August 29.
 
 A decision about re-opening on Thursday will be made by 6 p.m. Wednesday.
 
Housing, Rowdy's Cafeteria and the Convenience Store will remain open for resident students. The University Police Station will remain open. University police will patrol the campus according to their normal schedule.
