Dr. Michael M. Kurth
Dr. Kurth grew up in Saginaw Michigan and served in the Army as a Russian linguist/Intelligence Analyst. He received his BA degree in international economics from the Monterey Institute for International Studies and his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Tech where he studied under Nobel laureate James Buchanan. He taught at Emory and Henry College in Virginia and California State University-East Bay before coming to McNeese in 1984. He served as Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at McNeese for eight years. He has authored many studies on the state and local economy and served on two of Governor Jindal's transition teams (fiscal reform and hurricane recovery).
