· Data Security: To maintain appropriate security of this data, release of information to personnel outside of the audit division will be controlled. All information accumulated during audits should be considered sensitive and confidential.
· Backup Procedures: All files should be backed up.
· Installing Software: Auditing interns should not install programs themselves without at least checking with the Campus Director of Internal Audit first.
· Computer Viruses: Everyone should be aware of the seriousness of the threat posed to us by computer viruses. To make sure that our office does not receive viruses or give viruses to others, all diskettes received from outside the office should be scanned when received. Diskettes that are sent out of our office should also be scanned for viruses prior to sending. Be careful with files that are downloaded from other systems, especially program files. Antivirus software is installed on all computers and auditing interns should be familiar with its use. Remember to also check diskettes going to and from home computers.
· Passwords: Use common sense with your passwords. Don't write it down or give it to others (at least others outside the Office). It is required that periodically passwords be changed.
·
Software Piracy: The
Office of Internal Audit complies with Software Piracy Policies.
