Transfer Students to McNeese State University

The Com-STEM program encourages and supports associate degree holders from Louisiana State University at Eunice and Lamar State College - Orange to pursue baccalaureate degrees at McNeese State University. Under the Com-STEM program, the out-of-state tuition fee for Texas residents who qualify for transfer to MSU is waived.

The official McNeese State University transfer student web site can be found HERE. All forms required for admission to MSU can be found HERE. All students from LSUE and LSCO must be formally admitted to MSU before they can join MSU's Com-STEM program.

The following information pertains to LSUE and LSCO students who transfer to MSU as Com-Stem students.

To facilitate the transfer process, prospective transfer students can take advantage of the pretransfer and co-enrollment programs. Under the pretransfer program, students considering enrolling in upper-level STEM curricula at MSU are given the opportunity to visit the MSU campus, meet with students and faculty, and tour department facilities. A minimum of two such visits are organized every semester by Com-STEM staff at no cost to the students.

The co-enrollment program offers the opportunity to LSUE and LSCO students pursuing associate degrees in STEM disciplines to simultaneously enroll in courses at their "home" two-year campus and MSU. Under this program students formally apply and are accepted at MSU and register for MSU courses. These courses are taught at their "home" two-year campus by instructors hired by MSU. Students receive MSU credit while pursuing their associate degree that counts towards the baccalaureate degree of their choice. The result of the co-enrollment program is that LSUE and LSCO students are able to extend the amount of time they stay "close to home" while accumulating credit hours transferable to MSU. Where possible, MSU courses may be offered via compressed video or on-line.

A special orientation program for traditional transfer students from LSUE and LSCO entering STEM majors at MSU is also developed. The information presented is based on the general Com-STEM orientation pattern with additional academic advisement to facilitate a smooth transition into MSU. During the orientation, each transfer student is assigned a peer mentor for one semester to help out during this transition period and provide guidance as the transfer student enters the new department and the institution.

Com-STEM transfer students to MSU have the opportunity to apply for competitive Transfer Student Scholarships. For more information CLICK HERE.
