Com-STEM First Time Freshman Scholarships

Com-STEM First Time Freshman Scholarships are awarded to recent high school graduates who enter MSU as first time freshman in one of the STEM disciplines. It is a competitive scholarship awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. in order to be considered for the First-Time Freshman Scholarship, eligible students must:

  1. Complete a MSU admission application and be accepted by the University into a STEM discipline.
  2. Complete a scholarship application for first time freshman students and mail it to MSU (address is on the form).
  3. Currently have a minimum overall high school GPA of 3.0.
  4. Currently have minimum ACT scores of Math 22, Science 22, English 20, and Reading 20.
  5. Complete all courses required for TOPS.
  6. Upon admission to MSU, enroll in the Academic Engagement Program after admission and register for a minimum of 12 hours.

If you are graduating from high school and you would like to become a Com-STEM student at McNeese State University you must fill out a First Time Freshman Com-STEM Application form. Once you fill out this form, you will also be automatically considered for a Com-STEM scholarship. To download this form, CLICK HERE.

Based on the current funding level, 30 First Time Freshman Scholarships are available per year for $500 each. The First Time Freshman Scholarship is an one time only opportunity available during the first semester a high school student attends MSU in a STEM discipline. Additional financial support opportunities for MSU Com-STEM students are available under the Academic Excellence Reward Program.

The deadline for first time freshman Com-STEM applications for the summer or fall semesters is May 3rd of the year you plan to enter the university.

The deadline for first time freshman Com-STEM applications for the spring semester is November 3rd of the previous year.

Scholarship offers will only be made to students who would be formally accepted by McNeese State University before the deadline.
