WMST 201 W, Intro to Women’s Studies

English 406/507, Women in Literature
Women in Literature (3 credits), offered at 11 MWF, is an upper- level undergraduate and graduate-level course for students interested in reading literature by and about women. The focus of the course will be images of women in literature. Readings will include works by Virginia Woolf, Kate Chopin, Tennessee Williams, Susanna Rowson, Aristophanes, Willa Cather, Toni Morrison, Anne Bradstreet, Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, and others.

Women's Studies Course Offerings for Fall 2006

WMST 201 W, Intro to Women’s Studies
Taught from a feminist perspective, readings explore woman’s place in society, history and culture. Topics include gender roles, images of women, women’s work, art and culture, health and reproductive rights, violence against women, family, sexuality, religion, and spirituality. PSYC 440/540, Psychology of Gender
Examines popular stereotypes of women and men and how culture and media contribute to these stereotypes; gender differences and similarities in topics such as emotion, relationships, mental abilities, sexuality, school, work, and health. 11:00-11:50 MWF, Dr. Linda Brannon

Theatre 347 A, Women and the Arts
Explores women characters as drawn by playwrights, women as directors and actors, and women as writers and addressing the dramatic canon, theory, and criticism with women, their lives, and work as the focus.
