Phi Alpha Theta:


Phi Alpha Theta is the history honors society.

Why should you join?
- A Phi Alpha Theta membership looks great on a resume.
- There is a special ceremony before graduation honoring members of honor societies.
- The McNeese chapter organizes one public lecture every semester. Dr. Wygoda recently spoke about his father’s memoirs on the Holocaust (spring 2003), while Dr. Girard delivered a lecture on modern slavery (fall 2003).
- Members can present papers at the regional meetings.
- The initiation fee of $40 includes a one-year subscription to the Historian.
- Members are eligible for a variety of prizes.

What are the requirements?
Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 semester hours in History (4 courses) with a GPA of at least 3.1 in History, have a GPA of 3.0 or better overall, and be in the top 35% of the class.
Membership is not limited to History majors.
The lifetime membership fee is $40.
