IEEE (formerly Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

Vision Statement

IEEE members are engineers, scientists and allied professionals whose technical interests are rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering and related disciplines. IEEE has more than 1784 chapters with 375,000 members in more than 160 countries. There are 1616 student branches with over 80,000 student members. IEEE fosters 38 technical societies, publishes 144 transactions, journals and magazines, and sponsors more than 850 conferences each year.

Mission Statement

The IEEE Student Branch provides students the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, as well as faculty members and professionals in the field.  McNeese Student Branch activities offer numerous educational, technical, and professional advantages of IEEE membership to our students through special projects, activities, meetings, tours and field trips. Typical of the activities of the McNeese IEEE student Branch members are:

• participation in regional conferences, leadership training workshops and develop leadership, interpersonal and team building skills
• participation in awards, scholarships and project/design programs and student paper contests
• IEEE Region 5 student paper contest
• IEEE Region 5 design contest
• participation in McNeese SPAC
• access IEEE online services and resources
• participation in Beaumont Section meetings in Beaumont and Lake Charles
• establish a web site
