Senior Design Project I
- Students are told what the professors’ expectations are for the course, i.e., find a project, preferably in a local plant, and prepare a project proposal by the end of the semester as part of a multidiscipline team.
- Each student presents a five-minute PowerPoint presentation of his (her) background focusing on particular strengths that he (she) could bring to a project.
- How to prepare and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Presentation by an official of the state Professional Engineer organization (LAPELS) outlining the an engineer’s need to become a registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Presentation by Director of Career Services at McNeese focusing on job search, resume preparation and interviewing for a job
- Fundamentals of technical oral presentations
- Fundamentals of technical written communications
- Fundamentals of project management
- Fundamentals of proposal preparation
- Elements of design
- Organize Project teams based on need for each discipline and the amount of work involved
- Project teams and faculty visit company sponsors
- Each team makes a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation of their proposal
