PURPOSE
The McNeese State University Foundation is a voluntary non-profit
organization of business and professional leaders. It was incorporated in
1965 to establish scholarships for McNeese students and to enhance
education to ensure academic excellence. The Foundation has at present a
trust fund valued in excess of $31,000,000 and annually awards over
$1,000,000 in scholarships, faculty development awards, and academic
enhancements. The office of Development and Public Affairs acts as a
liaison to the Foundation.
NEED FOR FOUNDATION
The need for funds today in higher education, both public and private,
is an essential key to Louisiana's future. Also, the task to be accomplished
by higher education is the greatest of all time. Today, public education
can no longer depend entirely upon state-supported funds and must receive
private financial support to fulfill its obligations.
The Foundation plans to expand its efforts to include additional scholarships,
faculty grants, endowed chairs, professorships and research fellowships.
Faculty development will be a priority with funds being set aside for
continuing study and research. Enrichment funds will also be made available
to other campus facilities and academic services.
