- Obtain a summer job related to potential fields of interest
Junior Year
- Reality...test your values, skills and interests through your internship/co-op experience
- Continue to participate in as many career fairs, expos and workshops as possible
- Research specialized areas of possible employment in your chosen field
- Target and research organizations and companies
- Research key corporations, businesses and organizations through informational interviews and references
- Explore graduate or professional schools
- Accept leadership roles in student, professional or trade associations, campus and community organizations
Sophmore Year
- Consult a career advisor
- Participate in career fairs and workshops
- Research fields of interests, majors and careers
- Explore the academic and practical-experiential requirements for entering a profession
- Make a firm decision about your major
- Develop rapport with administrators, faculty and staff
- Develop skills and confidence
- Continue participation in campus and community organizations
- Maintain regular contact with your academic advisor
- Obtain an academic internship or cooperative education position related to your major
Senior Year
- Plan your job search campaign for career employment or graduate school selection process
- Attend seminars and workshops on resumes, cover letter, interviewing and job strategies
- Participate in career expos and conferences
- Select and contact administrators, faculty and past employers to use as references
- Participate in on-campus recruiting and resume referral programs
- Interview with prospective employers identified through personal networking, professional journals and job listings
- Evaluate job offers in repsect to your most valued interests, skills, strengths and life goals
- Complete course requirements in your major
- Graduate and secure the career of your choice!
