McNeese Beta Gamma Sigma Initiates

(Pictured left) Klancy Ruth Shope, a Longville management major, received the 2013 Distinguished Senior in the College of Business award at the recent Beta Gamma Sigma initiation ceremony at McNeese State University.  

Twenty business students have been initiated into the McNeese State University chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma Scholastic Business Honor Society. 

David Sickey, vice chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and member of the Coushatta Tribal Council, was the guest speaker for the ceremony.

Membership into Beta Gamma Sigma, which stands for honor, wisdom and earnestness respectively, is the highest national academic recognition that an undergraduate or graduate business student can receive. 

Beta Gamma Sigma initiates are: Subash Adhikari, Lake Charles, John Derrick Cathey, Lake Charles, and Morgan Victoria Murray, Westlake, graduate student; Kimily Lurlie Bourriague, Creole, Mai Dao, Vietnam, Ashley Eaves, DeRidder, Lindsay Cecile Kahn, Rayne, Kristie Renee Landry, Lake Charles, Blake Austin Manuel, Hathaway, Tewat Premchit, Thailand, Andrew John Smith, Lake Charles, Tara Densie Trahan, Jennings, seniors; Helene Alexandra Bergman, Sweden, Aleks Ann Duhon, Sulphur, Kelsey Ewen Haynie, Houston, Texas, Brittany Alise Michael, Singer, Thao Phuong Nguyen, Vietnam, Glory Chinenye Okoro, Lake Charles, Samantha Leigh Peters, Lake Charles, and Ami Christine Snell, Westlake, juniors.

Several business awards were also presented at the ceremony. 

Klancy Ruth Shope, Longville, received the Distinguished Senior in the College of Business award.

The Jeff and Rhonda Miller Distinguished student awards went to: Christine Elizabeth Pundt, Lake Charles, accounting; Chrisnina Apriliani Sutopo-Putri, Indonesia, finance; Katie M. Youngblood, Lake Charles, business administration; Shope, management; Richard T. Queen, Baytown, Texas, marketing; and Murray, Master of Business Administration.

The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key recipient was Shope while the CITGO Scholar recipients were Sutopo-Putri, Pundt, Lana Richard, Jennings, Patrick O'Meara, Lake Charles, and Anop Pandey, Thailand.
