What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is an online learning system that University
faculty can use to deliver all or part of a regularly
scheduled University course. In Blackboard, you can find
information about your course, including announcements,
course documents, syllabus, presentations, or links to other
websites. Communications tools are also available to
students including email, discussion board, and live chat
facility. Because it is web-based, it can be accessed from
anywhere.
Why use Blackboard?
Blackboard is a powerful course-authoring tool that
allows you to extend the classroom or create a totally
online learning environment. Blackboard features include
threaded discussion forums, digital drop box for
submission of student assignments, online gradebook,
document sharing and e-mail messaging.
What are the steps I should take to begin using
Blackboard?
- Attend a Blackboard Workshop.
- Practice, practice, practice with the different
Blackboard features
How do I get to Blackboard?
Simply type in the URL:
http://blackboard.mcneese.edu. This will take you to
the Blackboard login page.
How do I get a faculty account and course on
Blackboard?
Email hware@mcneese.edu and indicate the course names and sections that you are teaching. Example: ACCT205 C. An instructor ID and password will be created. You will then be added as instructor to the courses. Please make sure that you have an appropriate email (preferably a faculty MSU email) before you request courses.
