ABA Info

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science in which tactics derived from the principles of behavior are applied to improve socially significant behavior and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for improvement in behavior (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2007).Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a branch of psychology which utilizes principles of learning to resolve problems of mental health as well as improve how people function in everyday life (Baer, Wolf, & Risely, 1968; Baer, Wolf & Risely, 1987; Fawcett, 1991). ABA focuses on overt behavior rather than on presumed mental states, and seeks to identify features of the environment that influence how people behave.  The functional relationship between specific events that precede and follow behaviors is analyzed so that we can develop procedures to increase desired behaviors and decrease undesired behaviors (Leaf, McEachin, Taubman, 2008).
