Instructions For Poster Presentations
Presentation of Posters
All poster sessions will be located in the Parra Ballroom of the Student
Union. Authors presenting posters should have posters in by 9:00am of
the morning of their session and should leave posters up until 3:00pm
the day after their session. Authors should attend their posters during
the scheduled period.
Poster Area (Display Space)
The poster display board will be a minimum of 40 inches high by 60
inches wide. Material may be mounted on the board with push pins. Bring
your own pins. Only a limited supply will be on hand.
Poster Board Layout
Type sizes:
Title and abstract number should be printed across the top of the poster
in characters of at least 84 pt. Author(s), and affiliation(s) should be
at least 42 pt. Subheadings should be at least 30 pt, and all text
including figures and tables should be no smaller than 24 pt.
Layout:
A copy of the submitted abstract should be included. Text, figures, and
tables should be mounted on colored backgrounds (e.g., mat board) and
then arranged on the main board in vertical columns in a clear and
logical sequence. This can be accomplished by numbering boards or using
arrows.
Tips For Preparing Posters
Posters should be easily read from 3 to 4 feet. Each figure should have
a large heading or "take home" message, one or two lines long
which communicates the main content of the figure. The figure legend
should contain information that would normally appear in the body of the
manuscript. Remember, a casual viewer of your poster should be able to
understand the poster without having to read the legend; the legend is
strictly for those people who want to gain more detailed information
about the figure. Tables should follow the same general layout as
figures. Tables should be simple and contain no extraneous material. For
ease of viewing, try to convert any tables into figures.
