McNeese State University ranks third in Louisiana among all public and private institutions with the greatest lifetime return on investment for its graduates according to, a national resource for college affordability and financial aid information.

AC Online identified 13 public and private institutions in Louisiana where degrees pay off the most. Students who graduate from these schools earn more over their lifetimes, on average, than graduates from other Louisiana institutions.

McNeese graduates have a lifetime ROI of $596,200. Louisiana Tech ranked at the top with a lifetime ROI of $804,100 followed by LSU ($749,400).

In determining its high ROI college rankings, AC Online evaluated fully accredited, public and private, four-year degree granting institutions and determined the rankings based on tuition and fees and graduates' average starting salaries using data provided by the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System, the National Center for Education Statistics, the Carnegie Foundation's Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and PayScale's 2013 College Value Report.

This is the second time AC Online has recognized McNeese for offering exceptional value. McNeese was ranked 32nd of the top 58 public institutions for offering affordable tuition and high average salary earnings for its graduates.

"I congratulate our faculty and staff for their work and dedication and for their commitment to our core values of academic excellence, student success, fiscal responsibility and university-community alliances," said Dr. Philip Williams, McNeese president.

Williams said that McNeese is quickly becoming the university of innovation and that "McNeese and its graduates will play active leadership roles in the civic and economic renaissance likely to transform Southwest Louisiana over the next five years."

McNeese was named one of the best regional universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report in the 2013 Best Colleges edition.
AC Online's founder Dan Schuessler said, "These are important lists for prospective students to consider. We've sifted through comprehensive data sources to find colleges and universities in Louisiana that offer a high quality education with consistent, long-term payoffs in the workplace."
