Early Admission Students

  1. McNeese offers four Early Admissions programs for students who have not graduated from high school. (Students wishing to enroll in freshmen-level English and/or math courses must meet the minimum ACT score requirements for each course)

  1. Summer Early Admissions Program

  1. Qualified high school students who have completed their junior year with at least a "3.00" average on a four-point scale or who have an ACT composite score of at least 25 are allowed to enroll at McNeese for the summer session upon the recommendation of the high school principal.

  2. Students should file for admission as described under "General Admission Regulations."

  3. Students are enrolled in regular freshman classes and receive deferred credit at McNeese upon completion of the session. This credit becomes a part of the University permanent record.

  4. Dormitory facilities are available for those who are eligible to live on campus.

  1. Part-time Early Admissions Program

  1. Qualified high school seniors who have at least a "3.00" average on a four-point scale or an ACT composite score of at least 23 and the recommendation of their principal are allowed to register at McNeese under conditions which are coordinated with parish school system requirements.

  2. Students should file for admission as described under "General Admission Regulations."

  3. Students are enrolled in regular freshman classes and receive deferred credit at McNeese upon completion of the semester. This credit becomes a part of the University permanent record.

  1. Full-time Early Admissions Program

  1. The full-time early admissions program was established by the Legislature and the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Qualified students may enroll by meeting the following requirements:

  1. At least a "3.00" average on a four-point scale for six semesters of high school work.

  2. An ACT composite score of at least 25.

  3. Recommendation of the principal.

  1. Students should file for admission as described under "General Admission Regulations" and also file the form, "Recommendation for Early Admission of the High Ability Student.''

  2. Students admitted under this program are eligible for a high school diploma upon successful completion of 24 semester hours of college work.

  1. Exceptional Scholars Admission Program (ESAP)

The exceptional scholars admission program is open to students with documented evidence of exceptional intellectual or creative abilities. The program allows those students who are not of the traditional classification required for the Early Admission Programs to enroll in college level classes. Eligibility for ESAP requires that a student have a minimum high school GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, a written recommendation from his/her high school principal or counselor, a minimum ACT composite of 25 (SAT of 1140), and written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Upon admission to the university as a degree seeking student, credits earned in this program, if applicable to the chosen major, may be used to satisfy degree requirements at McNeese.

  1. Transfer of credit to another institution depends on the policies of that particular institution.

  2. Early admissions students are subject to the rules, regulations, and policies for all students at McNeese.

  3. Fees and other expenses are the same as for regularly enrolled students.
