1.0                PURPOSE:                            To define the appropriate actions and responses to various emergency situations that may

occur on the University campus.

 

2.0                RESPONSIBILITY

2.1                Any individual that witnesses a potential emergency situation shall contact University Police.

2.1.1           University Police shall be contacted for all on-campus emergency situations.

 

2.2                To assist the University Police as needed, McNeese State University has a Crisis Response Team.

2.2.1           Team Members include:

2.2.1.1      Chief, University Police

2.2.1.1.1             Investigator, University Police

2.2.1.1.2             Director of Operations, University Police

2.2.1.2      Vice President, Administration / Student Affairs

2.2.1.3      Coordinator, University Counseling Center

2.2.1.4      Dean, Office of Student Services

2.2.1.5      Director, Intramurals / REC Complex / Student Union

2.2.1.6      Director, Facilities and Planning

2.2.1.7      Director, Media Services

2.2.1.8      Academic Computing Center Representative

2.2.1.9      Building Coordinator(s)

2.2.1.10  Environmental, Health, Safety and Hazardous Waste Officer

 

3.0                GUIDELINES

 

3.1                The primary Incident Command Center for emergency response is located in the University Police conference room.

 

3.2                Crisis Response Team member duties include but are not limited to:

3.2.1           Chief, University Police

3.2.1.1      Serves on the building evacuation team

3.2.1.1.1             Mobilizes police officers to:

3.2.1.1.1.1        Manages site security

3.2.1.1.1.2        Provide crowd control

3.2.1.1.1.3        Contact area agencies as needed

 

3.2.2           Investigator, University Police

3.2.2.1      Investigate the incident / accident

3.2.2.2      Assist with site security

 

3.2.3           Director of Operations, University Police

3.2.3.1      Official record keeper for Crisis Response Team

 

3.2.4           Vice President, Administration / Student Affairs

3.2.4.1      Serves as chairperson of the Crisis Response Team

3.2.4.2      Coordinates University emergency medical services

3.2.4.3      Coordinates contact of relatives

 

3.2.5           Coordinator, University Counseling Center

3.2.5.1      Provides incident debriefing

3.2.5.2      Provides counseling services as needed

 

3.2.6           Dean, Office of Student Services

3.2.6.1      Assists Vice President, Administration / Student Affairs

3.2.6.2      Serves on the building evacuation team

 

3.2.7           Director, Intramurals / REC Complex / Student Union

3.2.7.1      Serves on the building evacuation team

3.2.7.2      Serves in an advisory capacity

 

3.2.8           Director, Facilities and Planning

3.2.8.1      Mobilizes Physical Plant personnel as required for response efforts

3.2.8.2      Mobilizes appropriate materials and equipment for emergency response

3.2.8.3      Serves on the building evacuation team

 

3.2.9           Director, Media Services

3.2.9.1      Prepares and releases statements and updates to the media concerning site activities

 

3.2.10       Academic Computing Center Representative

3.2.10.1  Serves in an advisory capacity

 

3.2.11       Building Coordinator(s)

3.2.11.1  Serves on the building evacuation team

3.2.11.2  Serves in an advisory capacity

 

3.2.12       Environmental, Health, Safety and Hazardous Waste Officer

3.2.12.1  Coordinates assembling of Crisis Response Team members at Incident Command Center.

3.2.12.2  Serves on the building evacuation team

3.2.12.3  Serves in an advisory capacity

3.2.12.4  Assist the Director, Facilities and Planning as needed

3.2.12.5  Serves as a liaison between incident commanders, medical personnel, emergency personnel, law enforcement agencies, University Police and other appropriate University officials and personnel.
